The Selvam Group has an inspiring story that began in 1962 when Mr. N. Duraiswamy, a farmer from Ganapathy, Coimbatore, embarked on a mission to address the challenges faced by farmers and consumers in accessing high-quality products at affordable prices. With the unwavering support of his lifelong mentor, Mr. R. Ramasamy, the founder of Texmo Industries, Mr. Duraiswamy established Selvam Agencies as a distributor for Texmo motors and pumps in Coimbatore.

Driven by his vision to provide a one-stop destination for farmers and consumers to obtain top-notch products, Mr. Duraiswamy initially focused on agricultural essentials such as motors and pumps. Collaborating with Texmo Industries, renowned for its expertise in the field, Selvam Agencies quickly gained a reputation for delivering reliable and efficient solutions to meet the demands of the agricultural community.

The legacy of Selvam Agencies was carried forward by Mr. D. Nandakumar, the son of Mr. Duraiswamy. Mr. Nandakumar, equipped with a background in Mechanical Engineering, joined the family business at a tender age and played a pivotal role in its expansion. With his engineering knowledge and business acumen, he expanded the company’s reach to nearby cities, establishing a presence in over eight locations.

Recognizing the need to diversify the product line and cater to the evolving needs of customers, Mr. Nandakumar introduced a range of industrial and domestic products to the portfolio of Selvam Agencies. The inclusion of Finolex Electrical Wires, Ashirvad uPVC Column Pipes, and BCH Control Panels further strengthened the company’s position as a trusted provider of comprehensive solutions in the electrical and agricultural sectors.

As a forward-thinking entrepreneur, Mr. Nandakumar was quick to respond to the energy crisis that struck Tamil Nadu in 2002. With a vision to embrace sustainable practices and reduce dependency on traditional energy sources, he established the Green Energy Division within Selvam Agencies. This division focused on harnessing renewable energy through the installation of windmills in the Udumelpet region. With a total capacity of 1.5 MW, these windmills have been instrumental in generating clean and efficient energy.

Expanding beyond the realms of agriculture and energy, the Selvam Group ventured into real estate and hospitality under the banner of Gem Futuristics. This property development and real estate wing of the group specializes in acquiring, developing, and selling warehouse and industrial spaces, as well as residential plots in and around the Coimbatore region. Gem Futuristics aims to meet the evolving demands of businesses and individuals by providing them with modern, well-designed spaces tailored to their specific requirements.

The group’s commitment to meeting diverse customer needs led to the establishment of the state-of-the-art convention center, which is managed by Gem Futuristics. Located in Echanari, this convention center was inaugurated in 2017 and has since become a preferred venue for a wide range of events. With a sprawling built-up area exceeding one lakh sq. ft., the facility boasts eighteen en suite rooms, two suite rooms, a fully air-conditioned main hall with a capacity of 1500 persons, a separate buffet and dining hall accommodating 1000 persons, cutting-edge audiovisual equipment, ample car parking, and even an on-site temple.

Keeping pace with technological advancements and the digital age, Selvam Agencies underwent a transformation in 2019. The flagship showroom was renovated to incorporate the latest technological innovations, including a virtual zone, an automated pump selection process, and a fully air-conditioned environment. The showroom provides customers with a hassle-free and immersive buying experience, showcasing a wide range of products and enabling them to make informed decisions.

The younger generation of the Selvam family, represented by Mr. N. Anish Prajivin, has also played a significant role in the growth and diversification of the group. Having been actively involved in the administration from a young age, Mr. Anish Prajivin pursued a Mechanical Engineering degree from the prestigious PSG College of Technology. He further expanded his knowledge by earning a master’s degree in Additive Manufacturing and Advanced Manufacturing Technology from the esteemed University of Sheffield, United Kingdom.

With his expertise in high-end manufacturing technologies and international exposure, Mr. Anish Prajivin heads the operations of the Selvam Group. His focus includes implementing cost-effective IT enhancements, streamlining operations through cloud-based ERP systems.

Despite the group’s expansion and diversification, it remains deeply connected to its agricultural roots. Agricultural activities continue to be an integral part of the Selvam Group’s operations, with active cultivation taking place across approximately 100 acres of fertile land in Pichanur, Pannimadai, and Ganapathy. The group cultivates a variety of crops, including banana, mango, and coconut, ensuring a continued connection to its origins and a commitment to the agricultural community.
